Celebration Begins Following the Chicago to Mackinac Race

A tradition since 1898, the oldest sailboat race in the United States arrives at Mackinac Island each mid-July. Racers celebrate after having just completed the 333 mile journey from Chicago. For the nearly 300 boats in the competition, the old Irish blessing seems appropriate, “May favorable winds be at your back”. (Mackinac Island, Michigan)
