Culver's root

Healing Tradition of Culver’s Root

Culver’s Root (Veronicastrum virginicum), a native North American perennial found in Wisconsin prairies, once used in traditional herbalism to support the liver and digestive system – Aldo Leopold Nature Center. The RF macro lens I often use for wildflower photography has a very sharp range of focus. I find myself often having to choose which petal of a flower to focus on. With this shot, the narrow spears of the Culver’s root made it easy to draw attention to the primary subject, with the green foliage behind just out of focus by having the right amount of aperture opening.
