Wisconsin’s Traditional Red Barn
The red barn in Wisconsin represents an era of family farming that has largely passed. Fortunately, many of these icons have been well preserved, like this one in rural Dane County. Many classmates and family members grew up on dairy farms. What may not be appreciated by outsiders is the dedication of milking cows 2x daily 365 days a year. The only break is if you find someone to take over the chores for you. A neighbor or hired hand. But there is no missing a day of work without a reliable replacement for that day.
