Finger Rock Trail Rises Above Tucson

The city of Tucson is surrounded by a forest of saguaro cacti. On every hillside and throughout the valley, the large, multi-armed plants dominate the field of view. While the two sections of Saguaro National Park—East and West—draw the most attention, we discovered that there are actually many hiking trails from the city into this mesmerizing landscape, including this hike up Finger Rock Trail in the Pusch Ridge Wilderness. We made it only a few miles up the desert trail into the mountains, which in total is nearly 11 miles long with an elevation gain of 4,219 feet, giving it an obvious “Hard” rating in the AllTrails app. (Tucson, Arizona)
