Florida’s Sunshine Skyway

Sunshine Skyway Bridge from the Intercoastal Waterway off Anna Maria Island with the St. Petersburg skyline in the background. The entrance to Tampa Bay is guarded by this modern bridge, allowing interstate traffic easy passage over the water. On the other hand, the dynamics of this choke point in the coastline and the mixed semidiurnal tidal pattern means mariners must navigate currents coming in and out of Tampa Bay that change direction four times every 24 hours. I think the clouds and distant buildings make this image of the bridge extra unusual and was glad to get the capture from this angle. (Bradenton, Florida)
