Historic Cape Cod Lighthouse
Guiding the way through the darkness, Highland Lighthouse stands as a prominent beacon within the Cape Cod National Seashore. Commissioned by George Washington, the lighthouse was established in 1797 as the 20th light station in the United States. The present 66-foot-tall brick light tower, keeper’s house, and generator shed replaced previous structures in 1857, and moved to its current location in 1996 due to cliff erosion.
