Baptism River from the High Falls Trail
The Baptism River makes its way through Minnesota’s north woods on its way to Lake Superior. High Falls Trail – Tettegouche State Park. In June 2024, a torrential rain dropped 6 to 8 inches across Minnesota’s North Shore, swelling the Baptism River by 23 feet. A foot bridge near this spot was wiped out, and trees and boulders were sent downstream. We were surprised by the size of objects moved, especially when you see how peaceful it was when we camped there. (Silver Bay, Minnesota)
