White Peacock Butterfly from Florida’s Marie Selby Botanical Gardens

The Stillpoint photo journey across many landscapes in North America has included both grand vistas and intricate little treasures. It reflects the words of the mostly unknown American poet Katherine Edelman: “To be curious is to be alive, to sense the wonder in things great and small.” Each image, whether of sweeping mountains or a single butterfly, reflects Edelman’s idea that curiosity brings life to both the grand and the humble. 50 years ago, I selected those words for my senior quote, and they have stuck with me ever since. Here, a White Peacock Butterfly (Anartia jatrophae) at the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens – Historic Spanish Point. (Osprey, Florida)
