The rugged shoreline of Lake Superior where you find Rhyolite and Basalt volcanic rock (both composed primarily of silicate minerals) which formed during the Midcontinent Rift of the Mesoproterozoic Era (around 1.1 billion years ago), and most recently sculpted during the last ice age just 10 thousand years ago into its present form – Tettegouche State Park (Silver Bay, Minnesota).
